Question tags
Question tags consist of two parts – a main sentence and a tag. The tag consists of the corresponding auxiliary verb and a personal pronoun. If the verb in the main sentence is positive, the auxiliary in the tag is negative and vice versa.
Example:
He is a student, isn’t he?
Mary works as a doctor, doesn’t she?
He didn’t come on time, did he?
Martin was in the park yesterday, wasn’t he?
If the main sentence contains a modal verb, we use the same one in the tag.
Example:
They can speak German, can’t they?
