Plural nouns

Plural nouns are words that express more than one. There are regular and irregular nouns.

Regular nouns

1.In most cases we add the suffix -s to a noun to make it plural.

Example: book – books; pen – pens; table – tables

2. If the noun ends in – s, -ss, -sh, ch, -x, -o, we add the suffix –es.

Example: bus – busses; dress- dresses; brush- brushes; coach – coaches; fox – foxes; tomato – tomatoes

3. If the noun ends in -y and there is a consonant before -y, it transforms into – ie and then we add the suffix -s.

Example: baby – babies; lady – ladies

4. If the noun ends in -f or -fe, we transform them into – ve and then we add the suffix -s.

Example: wolf – wolves; knife – knives
